More Details & Pictures
1987 dodge raider / mitsubishi montero. Deciding to part with my project truck. Kids are nearly grown, and I’m going to focus on my 2000 montero for overlanding.
This raider is rebadged back to mitsubishi. Is has a motor swapped from a 1987 srarion/conquest (starquest), then upgraded to 88-89 ecu, etc. Intercooler was fitted, with hard pipes. Also has next size up 14g turbo. Has gutted downtube cat with 2-1/2″ exhaust the rest of the way. No echeck due to age.
Motor was rebuilt with the swap and has ~15k miles on it. Truck has ~135k. Nearly new griffin aluminum radiator.
It has a stock 5-spd tranny. But the transfer case has custom low range gears from australia. They are 2.85 ratio and current cost on them is $1200 from oz.
Truck has my custom “Tonneau top” where I have cut out the roof and fitted it with a snap on top made from convertible top material.
It is you typical project and in an ongoing state of in-progress. Right now the dash had been repainted and the interior is mostly out. Hadn’t decided how I wanted to finish it yet. Actually have nearly two sets of interior panels.
Second row bench seat has been refitted with 90s montero third row seats. They’ll fold forward separately and have headrests. Also fitted with three-point belts from later 2-door
It has 33″ x 12″ on 8″ steelies in the pics. I’m keeping them, but will swap over 32″ x 11″ on oem 7″ aluminum, painted black.
Has factory lsd rear axle and has had the front fitted with the lsd from a starquest.
Also have lots of parts on the shelf, as I have driving monteros for 20 years now. (three currently in the drive, counting this one.)
Car ran hot before putting in the griffin radiator and looks like it needs a head gasket.
Will entertain offers, but don’t waste my time with low balls. I’ll part it out before I let it go for stupid money.
Have lots more pics on a hard drive and will send if interested. You can also search 4x4wire.Com for posts on “87 swb” from circa 2004 to 2010 for a lot of threads on the build.
Thanks for looking.
